For 3 years, we have relied on U.S. Volunteer Groups to serve the beautiful people of Puerto Rico. We are very thankful for your interest in our program.
Below you will find Program Information, FAQ's, and videos. We hope to see you soon in Puerto Rico.
By volunteering with our organization, your contribution both in terms of time and money is vital for the development of our community services and for spreading awareness.
You will leave the program with a better understanding of the beautiful people and culture of Puerto Rico, the unnecessary hardships that many face, and the joy that we work hard to bring to the people we serve.
Puerto Rico has taken great precautions which has contributed to the minimal impact the pandemic has had on the island. You can learn about current restrictions by visiting this website: https://www.discoverpuertorico.com/info/travel-guidelines
No. The main focus of this trip is health education.
Yes! Two OHFC facilitators will be at the airport upon your arrival. From the moment you arrive on island you will have a facilitator with you or available at all times.
It is best if the whole group arrives together or as close to the same time as possible and the arrival time is a little less important. The earlier the group arrives, the more time you have to enjoy the day. This will take some coordination with everyone and we will send out flight emails after first deposits are made.
Bring a bp cuff, stethoscope, and a pulse ox. We provide homecare suppliers through our on island partners. There may be some specific supplies we request the group brings down as well but we won't know until we coordinate our missions with the local municipalities.
Bring your scrubs! Each day we will wear some combination of scrubs and volunteer gear.
