Welcome To The OHFC Voluntourism Program

Experience the beauty of Puerto Rico like never before! The OHFC Voluntourism Program is a very unique program that provides you with a 6 day voluntourism experience like none other. You will be using your skill sets to provide support to those in need and will be doing so in one of the most magical places on Planet Earth.


Voluntour Groups and Dates

All volunteer groups will consist of 10-12 individuals and each trip will be scheduled from Thursday - Tuesday. You may sign up as a group or you may sign up as individual wanting to join a group.


Volunteer Skillsets

There is a great need in Puerto Rico for medical volunteers especially mental health professionals, however, you do not need to be medical to volunteer. Anyone can volunteer.


Volunteer Cost

The cost to volunteer is $500 + the price of your plane ticket. Your volunteer fee will cover:

  • Transportaion for the week
    • 15 passenger van
  • Housing
    • You will be staying in a beautiful 10 bedroom home located in the mountains of Utuado, PR overlooking Lago Dos Bocas. This private home comes fully furnished and includes walking trails, exercise equipment, washer and dryer, and wifi. (See pictures below)
  • Meals
    • You will be provided a home cooked Puerto Rican dinner upon arrival to the house on Thursday night. A home cooked breakfast will be prepared for you each morning Friday - Monday. All meals will be prepared for you by a local chef. (All other meals are at your own expense)
  • Facilitator Fees
    • The facilitator fees will cover the costs of your voluntour facilitator. This person will be your driver, your hospitality director, and your activities coordinator for the week. The facilitator will be with your group at all times and can answer any questions you may have.
  • Activities
    • Your group will be working primarily in two facets. Assisting home to home medical and supply missions and serving at small community Health Care Clinics. Other medical and non-medical activities may be planned depending on need and availability. (See pictures below)

What To Bring

  • Portable snacks for non-meal times in Puerto Rico
  • Proper attire for home to home missions
    • Jeans and shorts, short and long sleeved t-shirts, rain jacket, closed toed shoes
  • Re-usable water container
  • Sunscreen and a hat to protect from the sun
  • Swimwear (we will make time for the beach)
  • Bug Spray
  • Hygiene supplies
    • toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, travel shampoo, etc.
  • Small satchel or fanny pack to carry your personal items on missions

Deposits and Deadlines

  • $150 is due two months prior to voluntour dates
  • $350 is due one month prior to voluntour dates
