OHFC Volunteer Program 2020

Welcome To The OHFC Volunteer Program

The Need for Volunteers

For two years, OHFC has relied on U.S. volunteer groups in order to provide continued primary care, at no cost, to patients in need. Due to many factors, including Hurricane Maria and the recent Earthquakes, the mental and physical health of many communities in Puerto Rico have continued to decline. The purpose of OHFC is to serve as a safety net for these communities and we depend on our U.S. volunteers in order to serve our purpose.

Volunteer Groups and Dates

Each trip is scheduled for ANY GIVEN DATES chosen by the group and typically last for one or two weeks. Please contact OHFC to schedule your trip dates.

Volunteer Fee

The fee to volunteer will vary pending several variables such as: size of group, length of trip, days of the week traveling, etc. Your volunteer fee will cover

  • Transportation for the week
  • Housing
    • We have several private local homes we choose from given your group size. Each private home comes fully furnished with washer/dryer and wifi and may include a pool, walking trails, exercise equipment, and other amenities.
  • Volunteer Facilitators
    • The facilitators are in charge of your entire stay and will be your drivers, your hospitality directors, and your activities coordinators for the week. The facilitators will be with your group at all times. 1-3 facilitators will be assigned to your group given your group size and mission focus.
  • Activities
    • Your primary mission each day will be to execute home-to-home community medical and supply missions to provide a continuum of care for our patients. We work directly with local governments and community leaders to execute our missions in a highly efficient, effective, and coordinated manner. Other medical and non-medical activities may be planned depending on need and availability. (See pictures below)
